Abstract: The present invention pertains to the production of electricity using thermal energy and may be used in thermal or nuclear power plants for cooling water or other liquids.
The cooling tower of the present invention comprises a box-type exhaust body having a plurality of air-intake windows formed of the perimeter of its lower part.
The tower further comprises a water-destribution manifold which is arranged inside said body and which comprises a plurality of water-jet nozzles inclined at a given angle towards the top.
The manifold with the nozzles is arranged on a platform which is mounted in the opening of an air-intake window so as to be offset from the plane of said window towards the centre of the body and so as to be capable of rotation about the horizontal axis.
The nozzles are inclined towards each other symmetrically relative to the vertical axis of the body.
The nozzles can be arranged in the shape of rows or in the shape of complex group.
